Upcoming webinar: Tokenised Money & Stablecoins in Africa
This webinar, led by the Africa Fintech Network and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, brings together the institutions shaping Africa's monetary infrastructure to examine adoption trends, how regulators are approaching stablecoins across jurisdictions, and where research and collaboration are still needed for a coherent, pan African approach.
Africa's payment landscape remains highly fragmented, with remittance costs among the highest of any region and cross-border trade constrained by costly settlement.
At the same time, digital asset frameworks are being developed across the continent, and tokenised money, including local-currency stablecoins, is emerging as one possible route toward cheaper, faster, more interoperable payments.
Join us on 18 August from 2.30pm BST as Roman Proskalovich (Lead, Emergent Money Systems, Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, Cambridge Judge Business School) presents findings of a CCAF report on tokenised money instruments.
The discussion will be moderated by Fii's Director of Policy & Advisory, Hugo Coelho, while also featuring speakers from the Bank of Ghana, Financial Services Commission, Mauritius, CGAP, Yellow Card and Ripple.
